About

The Everything Guide to Remote Work book cover
I'm a writer covering remote work, technology, personal productivity, and other topics. Currently I'm also deputy managing editor at PCMag (aka PC Magazine).

Writing

My latest book is The Everything Guide to Remote Work (Simon & Schuster). It's a practical and comprehensive guide to having a happy and successful remote work lifestyle.

Since 2011, I've written extensively about both work life and technology. I also follow research related to productivity, such as studies on time management and the effects of sleep and sleep deprivation on productivity.

Previously, I've written about food, video game development, and the odd movie review. I have an unusually deep knowledge of a few particular beats, namely project management software, collaboration software, wearable fitness technology, among others.

From 2004-2009, I was managing editor of the now folded Game Developer magazine. The jewel in the crown during those years was putting together the annual Salary Survey edition of the magazine, a collaborative project that brought together data collection, business analysis, and greater transparency about the workplace into the most popular issue of the year.

My very first venture into publishing and editing was at The American Institute of Physics, where I read thousands of pages each week about chemical physics.
